Community canvas CONTEST

Celebrate 90 years of Highland Lakes by helping create a one-of-a-kind commemorative T-shirt!

We're inviting local artists of all ages and skill levels to submit an original design inspired by the beauty, history and spirit of Highland Lakes, NJ.

Theme:

Highland Lakes 90th Anniversary

Think lakes, beaches, wildlife, landmarks, memories & traditions. Anything that captures what makes Highland Lakes special!

 Entry fee includes:

• a chance to win and be featured on JeJo website & social media
• limited-edition t-shirt featuring the winning design

Winner receives:

• full entry fee refunded
• their artwork professionally printed on the official Community Canvas August t-shirt
• Artist/design spotlight on our website and social media pages
• Bragging rights as the FIRST Community Canvas contest winner!

Judging Criteria:

Your design will be judged by a blend of JeJo & Highland Lakes panelists. Each judge will score every design from 1-10 in 4 categories:

• Creativity & Originality (10 points): Is he idea unique & memorable?
• Fits the Theme (10 points): Does it capture the spirit of Highland Lakes' 90th anniversary?
• Wearability (10 points): Would people actually want to wear this on a t-shirt?
• Overall Impact (10 points): Does the design stand out & leave a lasting impression?

Each judge can award up to 40 points per entry.

Artwork Guidelines:

Artwork should celebrate Highland Lakes and its 90th Anniversary. It should also:

• Be original and created by the submitting artist
• Be suitable for all ages
• Be designed with T-shirt printing in mind
• Reflect community pride, creativity, and positive local spirit

To keep this a family-friendly community event, submitted artwork must not contain:

• Drugs, drug paraphernalia, or references to illegal substances
• Guns, weapons, violence, or graphic imagery
• Sexual content, nudity, or suggestive imagery
• Profanity, vulgar language, or offensive gestures
• Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting any individual or group
• Political campaigns, political endorsements, or controversial political messaging
• Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, or related branding
• Copyrighted logos, trademarks, sports team logos, or artwork created by someone else
• AI-generated artwork that the entrant does not own the rights to use
• Content that could reasonably be considered offensive, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the spirit of Highland Lakes

Contest Summary:

Every participant will receive the exclusive Community Canvas T-Shirt, making this a collectible piece of Highland Lakes history!
